One study found that participants who smelled 1,8-cineole — one of the main chemical components of rosemary — for either 4, 6, 8 or 10 minutes before an arithmetic test performed better than people who didn’t. Additionally, a study in the journal Current Pharmaceutical Design reported that rosemary, as well as other European herbs, possess the potential to diminish cognitive decline in people with dementia.
