Not only does dark chocolate boost blood flow, it may actually make you smarter.

Dark chocolate is rich in flavonoids, a class of antioxidant that helps to improve blood flow. In fact, one study out of The University of Nottingham found that the consumption of a cocoa drink high in flavanols can boost blood flow to key areas of the brain for two to three hours, while another study found a similar cocoa beverage can actually improve communication between brain cells.

Perhaps more impressive, still, was a study published in Journal of Experimental Biology in which researchers out of University of Calgary found that the flavonols in dark chocolate improved the working memory of snails for up to 48 hours. Sounds like a fantastic reason to indulge.
