3 Wrinkle Smoothing Tricks That Actually Work
While the notion of “aging gracefully” is something we’d all like to subscribe to, I think it’s safe to say that most of us, at one point or another, have wished we could hit the pause button on our aging skin.
But in an attempt to reclaim the fountain of youth, men and women around the globe are going to extremes – especially now that so many “anti-aging” procedures are so widely available.
It’s no secret that Botox is loaded with risky chemicals, but what I learned through my research was that each Botox injection is like a scary game of Russian roulette, begging the question: Is the risk really worth the reward?
With so many natural alternatives to consider (which we’ll get into in a second), I can confidently say that it is not.
According to a study published in 2011, Botox can actually impair your ability to read emotions, as well. Lead author David Neal explains, “If muscular signals from the face to the brain are dampened, you’re less able to read emotions.”
In short, why take the risk on man-made toxins when there are plenty of effective natural Botox alternatives on the market? Here are a few wrinkle-fighting options you: should consider testing:
1) Facial Tapes Help Smooth and Prevent Wrinkles
Facial tapes like Frownies® and Furlesse® patches can be excellent and effective Botox alternatives. Both options are fairly inexpensive and aid in softening wrinkles and fine lines on your forehead and around your eyes while you sleep. Similar to applying anti-aging serums, facial tapes need to become a part of your regular nightly ritual in order to work. Your sleeping position plays a key role in where your wrinkles develop, but these tapes work to hold your skin together so that wrinkling stays away. The more you wear them, the more effective they are as Botox alternatives. Over time, facial tapes ward off sleep-induced wrinkling and smooth out your facial skin.
2) Soy Isoflavones and Fish Oil Hydrate Skin Cells to Impair Wrinkle Formation
Rather than subjecting yourself to paralysis or migraines, give Mother Nature a try. There are a wide array of supplements on the market that promote healthy skin. One study finds that a combination of lycopene, soy isoflavones, vitamins C and E, and fish oil produced clinically measurable improvement in the depth of wrinkles in postmenopausal women.
Of these, soy isoflavones and fish oil really stand out as Botox alternatives. Another study of 30 postmenopausal women found that 2/3 of the women enjoyed a decrease in skin wrinkle measurements after taking 100 mg of isoflavones every day for six months. Fish oil has similar effects. It helps to hydrate the skin and smooth fine lines and wrinkles.
3) Nutrient-Dense Serums Protect Against the Damage that Causes Wrinkles
As an external option of Botox alternatives, nutrient-dense serums that contain squalane, coconut oil, and/or cacay oil help to hydrate the skin and even provide antioxidant protection. Squalane is a powerful oil and antioxidant that is able to rapidly permeate and deeply absorb into the skin. It is considered a natural moisturizer and can minimize the appearance of wrinkles and creases. Squalane also protects against UV rays and free radicals which helps slow the aging process. It is important to note that serums can be effective wrinkle solutions as Botox alternatives so long as you stick to a strict nightly skin-care regimen.
