Olive oil is a great choice for promoting heart health because it’s a healthy monounsaturated fat, which helps lower total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol while protecting HDL cholesterol. Olive oil also contains plant sterols and stanols, which help lower cholesterol by blocking the digestive tract from absorbing cholesterol.

This recipe combines olive oil with garlic, another food that’s packed with nutrients that are beneficial to your heart. In fact, research has found that consuming garlic has a positive impact on blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and may even reduce your risk of heart disease.

Ingredients

  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons of lemon juice or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon fresh parsley or ½ teaspoon dried
  • ½ teaspoon fresh oregano or ¼ teaspoon dried
  • ½ teaspoon fresh rosemary or ¼ teaspoon dried
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • Dash of tamari or soy sauce
  • Freshly ground pepper

 Directions

Whisk ingredients together in a small bowl. Transfer ingredients into a salad dressing bottle for serving. Drizzle dressing on all your favorite salads.
