best time to take supplements Do you gulp down all of your first thing in the morning or the last thing at night? Maybe you divide them up during the day… or only take them when you think about it.

No matter how or when you take your supplements, it’s a sure thing you are getting plenty of health benefits from them. However, there are some tricks you can use to maximize your health results and get a bigger bang for your buck.

Here are a few tips we’ve picked up over the years:

Morning/early afternoon: This is the best time to take your -boosting supplements like CoQ10, B-vitamins, powders and your multivitamin. This will give you a big boost of energy at the start of your day and keep you going strong all day long.

Afternoon/evening: Vitamins D, K, E and fish oil supplements work best with meals that include dietary fats. This makes afternoon or evening meals a great time to take them. These are the meals when you are most likely to consume healthy fats like fish, nuts, , avocadoes and grass-fed meats.

Evening/bedtime: Both magnesium and calcium are better utilized when you take them at night. These two work hand-in hand to help you asleep faster, and better.

It’s also a good idea to take your before bedtime. This way your bowels will be ready to move when you wake up in the morning. (If you take them in the morning, it encourages your largest bowel movement to occur right in the middle of the day, when you are most active.)

Split doses: C only lasts a few hours in your bloodstream. So instead of taking a single dose in the morning or afternoon, it’s best to take it two to three times a day with meals.

Probiotics and enzymes should also be taken in split doses. They will do their job most effectively when taken 30 minutes before meals.
